Councilmember Strauss to host virtual town hall tonight

Seattle City Councilmember Dan Strauss will be hosting a virtual town hall to discuss permanent housing plans for District 6, the American Rescue Plan Act funding, and how the city is addressing homelessness.

The town hall will be held this evening (Wednesday, June 2nd) from 5:30 to 7pm. The meeting will be focused on the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding, which the Seattle City Council’s Finance & Housing Committee will be working on this month. There will be three presentations:

  • City Budget Director Dr. Ben Noble will speak about the funding mechanisms, amounts, and constraints of Federal ARPA funding.
  • Office of Housing Director Emily Alvarado will discuss current and upcoming housing projects in District 6 and across the city, and how this federal funding can be used to quickly bring permanent housing options online.
  • King County Regional Homelessness Authority CEO Marc Dones will talk about their work setting up the organization and the next steps being taken to address homelessness.

The town hall will wrap up with a Q&A from the public. To sign up for the town hall, RSVP here. Once you register, you’ll be sent instructions on how to join and ask questions.
