Minority Mental Health Awareness Month ๐Ÿง

July is Minority Mental Healthy Awareness Month! And Mr. Stevey gives you three ways to maximize your health and wellness this month! Established in 2008, the Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month was created to improve access to mental health treatment & services for multicultural communities by increased public awareness. Because minorities are less likely to receive diagnosis and treatment for their mental illness, have less access to mental health services & often receive a poorer quality of mental health care, this month is dedicated to promoting positive mental health practices and services. Mr. Stevey encourages viewers to start by examining their own mental health then addressed any by researching resources and contacting trained professionals. Organizations like the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Minority Health and the National Alliance on Mental Illness use this time to promote their services as well. Also, this months gives people plenty of time to research online resources and participate in local events. For instance, Mr. Stevey plans to participate in Minority Mental Health Awareness Week! Hosted by Emerge Sarasota, this five-day virtual event takes place July 20-25, 2020, and features local health workers and professionals from diverse backgrounds addressing important mental health topics. ๐ŸŒฟ
