Bryant, who joined the NBA right out of high school, was widely regarded as one of the greatest basketball players of all time. He won five NBA championships and was named NBA Finals MVP twice and league MVP once throughout his celebrated 20-year career. The Los Angeles Lakers retired both of Bryant’s jersey numbers: 8 and 24. In addition to being one of the most decorated NBA stars of all time, he was also an Oscar winner, taking home an award for his 2018 short animated film Dear Basketball.
